Based on a company’s value added tax (VAT) number, an EORI number is assigned. Because the VAT is referred to as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Singapore, a local business must first register for GST before requesting an EORI number.

Singapore allows both businesses and lone proprietors to apply for EORI numbers. A EORI number is required to be able to import goods.
